Historical assessment of the Port of Singapore Authority and its progression towards a ‘High-Tech Port’
Abstract
This paper tracks the development (1970-2000) of the Port of Singapore Authority (PSA) and its achievements towards the development of a competitive regional port via the adoption of technology. In doing so, the aim is to highlight the importance of continuous institutional reconfiguration and the adoption technology to leverage competitive advantage leading to significant developments. The findings in this paper highlight the flexibility of state-led institutional and strategic pragmatism towards development.
