From particular to pattern : visualising space in scientific texts and textiles

The focus of my PhD research is to examine a number of scientific visualisations of the natural world in order to consider and locate the specific spatial qualities of textile based visual practices. From a practice-led investigation using textile and drawing media, the research broadens the understanding of the spatiality of textile practice by demonstrating shared concerns with areas of science in which nature is described in the language of geometry.
