Abstract

During flights within 3-4 hr of sunrise or sunset, higher densities of Macropus giganteus were observed near sunrise and sunset than further into the day. An exponential decline as time progressed into the day accounted for most nonrandom variation in observed densities. Rate depended on the habitat. At sunrise or sunset 19.0, 4.8, 1.9, and 1.9 times more kangaroos were sighted in cleared land, open woodland, woodland, and forest, respectively, than at 3 hr earlier or later in the day.-Authors
