Abstract

Dielectric nanoantennas and metasurfaces are able to manipulate light wavefronts with the highest efficiency, however, their potential for enhancing nonlinear interactions remains unexplored. Here we show how ultra-small nanocrystals ordered in a metasurface can enable enhanced light-matter interaction for efficient nonlinear wave-mixing. In particular, we show how designer dielectric metasurfaces can enhance second and third harmonic generation resulting in complete nonlinear control of directionality and polarization state of the harmonics.
