Abstract

Several approximations for the determination of the real part of the heavy-ion optical potential have been studied. The results of these approximations for α-α scattering have been compared with the equivalent local potential determined by an inverse scattering method from a fully antisymmetrised "exact" calculation and some general conclusions are given.
