Abstract

As employed in this book of readings, the term ‘health transition’ means the cultural, social and behavioural determinants of health. Thus, the focus of interest is on the role played by these factors, as distinct from the roles played by health interventions or economic or nutritional factors, in determining levels of morbidity or mortality.
