Abstract

The alkylidynemolybdenum compounds [Mo(≡CR)(CO)2(η-C5H5)] (R = C6H4Me-4, C6H4OMe-2, C6H4NMe2-4 and C6H3Me2-2,6), and the dimetal species [MoFe(μ-CC6H4Me-4)(CO)6(η-C5H5)], have been used to prepare complexes containing bonds between molybdenum and manganese, iron, rhodium, platinum, and copper. Thus the compounds [MoMn(μ-CR)(CO)4(η-C5H5)(η-C5H4Me)] (R = C6H4Me-4, C6H4OMe-2, or C6H4NMe-4). [MoRh(μ-CC6H3Me2-2,6)(CO)3(η-C5H5)(η5-C9H7)] (C9H7 = indenyl), and [MoRh2(μ-CC6H3Me2-2,6)(μ-CO)2-(CO)(η-C5H5)(η5-C9H7)2] have been synthesized by treating the appropriate mononuclear alkylidynemolybdenum complex with [Mn(CO)2(thf)(η-C5H4Me)] (thf = tetrahydrofuran) and [Rh(CO)2(η5-C9H7)], respectively. The heterotrinuclear metal compounds [MoFePt(μ3-CC6H4Me-4)(CO)6(PR′3)(C5H5)] (R′ = i Pr or cyclo-C6H11), [MoFeRh(μ3-CC6H4Me-4)(μ-CO)(CO)5(η-C5H5)(η5-C9H7)], and [MoFe-Cu(μ-CC6H4Me-4)(CO)5(η-C5H5)(η-C5Me5)] have been synthesised by treating the complex [MoFe(μ-CC6H4Me-4)(CO)6(η-C5H5)] with the reagents [Pt(C2H4)2-(PR′3)], [Rh(CO)2(η5-C9H7)], and [Cu(thf)(η-C5Me5)], respectively. The NMR data for the new compounds are reported and discussed.
