Abstract
The AMMI (additive main effects‐multiplicative interaction) model is often used to investigate interactions in two‐way tables, in particular for genotype‐environment interactions. Both Gollob (1968) and Mandel (1969, 1971) proposed methods for testing the significance of such interactions. These methods are compared using simulated data. Our results support Mandel's conclusions, but his method is conservative and we recommend a test proposed by Johnson & Graybill (1972).
