Abstract

As with any developed country, Australia’s interests in Third World development combine economic, political and strategic interests. In several respects, however, Australia’s interests differ from those of other developed countries. In part, this stems from Australia’s continuing problem of reconciling its history and cultural affinities with its geography; in part it arises from similarities between its economic structure and that of a developing country.
