Interactive genetic algorithm (IGA) was compared to traditional numerical inversion on a geological applications. `A priori' information and expert knowledge can overcome lack of accurate data and help convergence towards a satisfactory solution. The problem showed at hand was a relatively simple one, and should be considered as a sort of proof of concept.en
