Abstract

The tremendous growth of China’s exports over the past fifteen years has turned the country into one of the most important players in the world market. This position has served to underline the importance of China’s ongoing negotiations for membership of the WTO. China’s offer for WTO membership involves substantial reductions in tariffs and non-tariff barriers (NTBs) in one of the world’s largest and most rapidly expanding markets.
