Abstract

Most analysis of employment and unemployment in Australia has been conducted in terms of the stocks of people in each labour market state. Recently, however, there have been a number of papers analysing unemployment in terms of labour market flows.(1) These papers, which focus on inflows into unemployment and the length of the unemployment spell, have added considerably to our understanding of the dynamics of the labour market.
