Cultural advice

Halogens react with ruthenium acetylide complexes to give dark green halovinylidene derivatives. In one case, bromination of the phenyl ring of the parent phenylacetylide complex occurs, as shown by the X-ray structure of [Ru{CCBr(C6H4Br-4)}(PPh3)2(η-C5H5)] [Br3] · CHCl3. The RuC and CC distances are 1.85(1) and 1.31(2) Å, respectively.en
