dc.description.abstractAn international authority on East Asian societies, Professor Chalmers Johnson is visiting Australia as a guest of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, under the Special Overseas Visitors program. He has written extensively on Japan, particularly on the role of the state in Japan's economic development. His books include Japan's Public Policy Companies and Miti and the Japanese Miracle.
