Text on monument reads: "Au large de cette côte dans la nuit du 17 au 18 août 1744 périt le Saint-Géran dont le naufrage a été immortalisé par le roman de Bernardin de Saint Pierre dans son roman Paul et Virginie." Remainder of monument sign is damaged.
