| dc.description | The monkey god is worshipped at shrines all over India, especially in villages, as the hero who helped Rama recover Sita in the epic Ramayana story. Here he is shown carrying the mountain in his left hand. In the battle to recover Sita, Rama and Lakshmana and many of the monkey warriors lay wounded, and Hanuman was sent to get the healing herbs from the Himalayas. He flew from Ceylon to the Himalayas, but either could not recognize the herbs, or they had hidden, so he brought the whole mountain back and restores all the wounded and dead to health | |
| dc.description | then he replaced the mountain and returned to the battle | |
