Description

A party at the home of the High Commissioner for Pakistan, Mr M. A. Malik, was one of the many social functions attended by members of the 28 Congress of Orientalists held in the Australian National University in January 1971. Pictured here are Mr Malik, Mrs A. L. Basham, Professor B. Lewis, Professor of the History of the Near and Middle East in the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, Mrs Malik, Mr J. A. R. El-Ayouty, Ambassador of the United Arab Republic, Professor A. L. Basham Chairman of the Congress, and Mr M. Baydur, Ambassador of Turkey.
