James Conner

Dr James Conner is an Australian architect, a graduate of the University of Sydney and University of Edinburgh. In 1978, he joined the Planning Department at the University of Sydney and worked as as the Director of the Planning Research Centre. James Conner has travelled widely through Asia and the Pacific.

Jennifer Taylor was an Australian architect and prize-winning architectural historian. She worked at the University of Sydney (1970-1998) and Queensland University of Technology (1999), as well as holding visiting professorships at several international universities. She had an interest in the cultures and architecture of Asia and Oceania.

Architecture in the South Pacific: The Ocean of Islands (2014) recounts the diverse architecture of the South Pacific, both historical and contemporary. The book examines the arrival of architectural styles from Europe and the emergence of unique and evolving architectural identities fashioned by the distinctive people of the region.
