East Asian History (1991- Present)

Permanent URI for this collection

The international journal East Asian History is published twice a year, and includes articles on subjects of historical significance in the East Asian area, as well as on issues of contemporary concern or neglected aspects and sub-regions of Asia. Articles on art and architecture, technology and the environment, and the history of ideas, emotions and subjective experience are also welcomed.

East Asian History was published in print from 1991 to 2008 (issues 1-36), and was edited by Geremie R. Barmé (to 2007), and Benjamin Penny (from 2007). The journal’s predecessor, Papers on Far Eastern History, was published by The Australian National University’s Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies from 1970 to 1990. When Papers on Far Eastern History became East Asian History the new journal employed an original and striking format that the new online version of the journal has adapted and developed in the new medium.

East Asian History is published twice each year. Articles published in the journal are submitted to double-blind peer review unless otherwise stated. Final selection of papers is at the discretion of the editor.
