He said she had appeared nervous at first, but was soon reassured by the sight of many Union Jacks and three cheers from the students shortly after she arrived. 'I thought they had it in for royalty', Princess Anne said. Someone in the crowd quipped back 'We're all royalists around here'. ...The students exhibited the same enthusiasm for the princess as they had done earlier in the week when a well-attended Students Association meeting resoundingly defeated a motion to boycott the Royal visit to the university. The few demonstrators, mostly protesting about Aboriginal land rights, were largely ignored. Princess Anne said that she failed to see the connection between the Royal visit and Aboriginal land rights. 'I can't see what it has to do with me', she said. Princess Anne declined to comment about the Vietname [sic] Moratorium despite repeated inquiries, saying 'I'm very practiced at saying no comment'. Princess Anne stopped several times along the route between the university library and the Union to talk to students. The standard questions were 'What are you studying?' and 'Where do you come from?'. The students singled out seemed embarrassed and generally either stammered a reply or giggled nervously." -- The Canberra Times, 25 April 1970, page 1.ANU Archive Item Open Access Undergraduate Studies at ANUOffice of the Registrar (1947-1998); Student Administration; ANU Instructional Resources Unit (1975-1996)ANU Archive Item Open Access Australian National University and the University of Canberra Open day advertisement, 1994Office of the Registrar (1947-1998); Student Administration; Bearcage Media Services5 August 1994.ANU Archive Item Open Access International Fair Night, Department of Foreign Affairs and TradeOffice of the Registrar (1947-1998); Student Administration; Speaker: Kate CarnellClips of food stalls and performances.ANU Archive Item Open Access Australian National University and the University of Canberra Open day advertisement, 1995Office of the Registrar (1947-1998); Student Administration; Bearcage Media ServicesANU and UC Open Day promotional video for Saturday 9 September 1995.ANU Archive Item Open Access Study Abroad Program, Australian National UniversityOffice of the Registrar (1947-1998); Student Administration; International Education OfficeANU Archive Item Open Access Students in Suits: the Australian National Internships ProgramOffice of the Registrar (1947-1998); Student Administration; Australian National Internship Program; Kennedy White ProductionANU promotional videoANU Archive Item Open Access The Australian National University, Canberra: a place for youOffice of the Registrar (1947-1998); Student Administration; International Education Office; Bearcage Media ServicesANU Archive Item Open Access ANU Open Day media preview, Prime TV News and Capital TV NewsOffice of the Registrar (1947-1998); Student Administration; ANU Instructional Resources Unit (1975-1996); Speaker: Sue BishopTwo news segments until 3:17, then another promotional video.ANU Archive Item Restricted University degrees, Media MonitorsOffice of the Registrar (1947-1998); Student Administration; Presenter: Tracy Grimshaw; A Current Affair; Media Monitors6 January 1999.
