| dc.description.abstract | The past few years has seen the emergence of a critical assessment of the relationship between the ethnographer and the society being studied (for example see Agar 1984; Marcus and Fisher 1986). One result has been the recognition that '..ethnographies are a function of the different traditions of ethnographer, group, and intended audience" (Agar 1984: 783). I believe it appropriate to include here a summary of the traditions, influences and chance events that led me to ethno-archaeology and shaped the methodology I used. | en_AU |
