Si 1 * on illustrait les theses, il y aurait en face de cette introduction le portrait de Pascal recemment decouvert par Uiysse Mur saili. l) Maxime Leroy croit lire dans 1' expression, du visage une certain© ironic. 2) En effet les yeux clairvoyants trahissent un esprit rai-egaye, miraillcur, tandis quo les levres semblent s'efforcer en vain de garder un air serieux. Bref, ce portrait est une interpretation frappante de ce genie, foncierement grave, parfois babin, qui nous divertit encore par l ’esjjrit satirique de ses Lettres Provinciales.
