Abstract

This thesis is comprised of four Sections, (A, B, C, D). The general model is introduced in the first Section (A). The idea of the coupling of single particle states to a core is employed for the interpretation of the low lying states of odd-A nuclei. We will restrict ourselves to the cases where a rotational core can be used and suggest describing the particle states in terms of the shell model. A consistent interpretation of this situation can only be obtained wi th the picture of a spherical core, which is compatible with the experimental information. A parametric description of the "intrinsic" properties of the core is adopted with the intention of extracting the relevant parameters from the experimental data.
