Negotiation for arms control, 1955-60
Abstract
The chief negative aim of this thesis is to avoid duplicating the narrative accounts of post-war negotiations already published by certain Western authors. Bechhoefer's book is the most thorough narrative account of post-war negotiations, and also the only account which systematically goes behind the negotiations to study policy debates in the Western camp, and especially in the United States. I have avoided this large subject almost completely in order to focus attention on the more formal ele ents of the negotiating process. (First paragraph of Preface).
