| dc.description.abstract | This study is an examination of the meaning, role and context of the concept of 'the state' in the political thought of T. H Green, Bernard Bosanquet, L. T. Hobhouse and J. A. Hobson. It indicates that, for each thinker, it is most appropriate to grasp the context of the state - what the state is, for him 'about' - if we are to appreciate his understanding of the state and the role or roles to which he assigns it. | en_AU |
