| dc.description.abstract | Epping Forest National Park was established to protect the last remaining population of the Queensland Hairy-nosed Wombat, (Lasiorhinus krefftii, see Photo 32). This species has contracted considerably since European settlement, probably because of the introduction of cattle to their habitat, (Gordon et al, 1985). Earlier this century, populations of L.krefftii existed at St. George and Moonie in southern Queensland, and in the Jerilderie and Deniliquin region of New South Wales, (Crossman, 1988; Gordon et al, 1985 ). | en_AU |
