dc.description.abstractNow that Solomon Islanders' forests have been depleted (Allen 2011; Bennett 2000) its mineral resources are being seen as a potential base for the economic development of the nation. However, in assessing this prospect from a national economic perspective Haque (2013) comes to the sobering conclusion that ‘even if potential mining investment was to be fully realised, favourable economic outcomes for Solomon Islands are far from assured.en_AU
