dc.description.abstractSince their inception, the rural finance institutions have been unable to meet the expectations of planners and beneficiaries, and concerns have been raised about a lack of credit facilities for the rural sector. In spite of three decades of experience in rural financing, Papua New Guinea has not been able to establish a viable rural financial institution. Reforms to the Rural Development Bank to improve its performance are suggested here.en_AU
