dc.description.abstractThe presentation of the thesis comprises the Studio Practice component ( 66%) which takes the form of an exhibition of paintings and works on paper held at Helen Maxwell Gallery from the 22 March to the 14 April 2002 and at the Canberra School of Art Gallery from the 21 March to 28 March 2002, together with the Report which documents the nature and development of the research undertaken during the course of the study, plus the Dissertation component (33% ). The Studio Practice component has been based in the Painting Workshop and has examined the topic of the representation of the land. The Dissertation undertakes an analysis of the painting Big Yam Dreaming 1995 by Emily Kngwarray through a series of cross-cultural interpretations.en_AU
