Abstract

The Skullbook project will produce digital and 3D printed 'bone libraries' to support students' research. This project engages traditional analyses with new technologies. ANU Skullbook will produce the first digital bone library in Australia. In the course of the project, we will create anatomically accurate replicas of animal skulls, which can be used to support teaching and learning at all levels, both in class, and for independent research. These digital 3D models will be disseminated globally as an Open Access resource hosted on a dedicated webpage. They can be downloaded or printed out as 3D models to create personal reference collections. This project will improve access to teaching resources for key skills-based teaching in archaeology, and offer important hands-on training in digital humanities.
