| dc.description.abstract | This is a study of the social adaptation of Tamil-speaking labourers from South India to life on Pal Melayu, a rubber estate in Malaya. Pal Melayu in its west coast Malayan region is conceptualised as a social system or a 'social field'. The social process - a syndrome of social action over time - is perceived as an interaction between analytically separable 'industrial' and 'community' subsystems comprising the estate social system. | en_AU |
