Development of Water Stable Charge-Assisted Hydrogen-Bonded Organic Frameworks
Abstract
This thesis outlines the development and synthesis of new charge-assisted hydrogen-bonded frameworks involving positively charged amidinium tectons and different anionic counterparts with various motifs.
Chapter 1: An introduction to supramolecular chemistry and porous materials in general. This chapter then goes on to focus particularly on hydrogen-bonded frameworks, especially those that utilise charge-assisted hydrogen bonds, their developments, and their limitations.
Chapter 2: Manuscript 1 - Published - "Use of modulators and light to control crystallisation of a hydrogen bonded framework" is presented as Chapter 2 in this thesis.
Chapter 3: Manuscript 2 - Published - "Correspondence on "Crystalline Porous Organic Salt for Ultrarapid Adsorption/Desorption-Based Atmospheric Water Harvesting by Dual Hydrogen Bond System"" is presented as Chapter 3 in this thesis.
Chapter 4: Manuscript 3 - Published - "Charge "mis-matched" hydrogen bonded frameworks for cation exchange and dye sorption" is presented as Chapter 4 in this thesis.
Chapter 5: Manuscript 4 - Published - "Hydrogen-bonded frameworks containing aliphatic 3D linkers show high-capacity water vapour sorption" is presented as Chapter 5 in this thesis.
Chapter 6: Manuscript 5 - In preparation - "A three-component hydrogen bonded framework" is presented as Chapter 5 in this thesis.
