dc.description.abstractThis sub-thesis deals with Sino-Japanese and Sino-Australian trade relations from 1960 to 1972. During this period, both Japan and Australia maintained trade ties with China (the People's Republic of China), although they had broken off diplomatic relations with her.1 The main interest here is how and why these trade relations were maintained without diplomatic relations. This, then, is a study of trade relations between states which have no diplomatic relations.en_AU
