Abstract

Since its inception in 1987, the Tax Free Factory/Tax Free Zone scheme has contributed to Fiji's economy by stimulating investment and encouraging export-oriented enterprises. This scheme has also contributed substantially to the growth of the manufacturing sector. This paper provides an overview of the scheme in Fiji, compares it with similar schmes in other developing countries and outlines the future prospects of the scheme.
