Construction of Advanced Polycycles via the Diene Transmissive Diels-Alder sequence
Abstract
In modern organic chemistry, greater focus it placed on the principle of green chemistry to reduce the amount of chemical waste and thereby reducing the environmental impact. One powerful approach to reach this goal is the use of highly complexity generating reactions in total synthesis, which significantly reduces the number of steps and therefore the amount of produced waste. A good example is the Diels-Alder reaction which forms two carbon-carbon and a six membered ring in a single step. The application of substituted [3]dendralens in a two-fold Diels-Alder reaction sequence (DTDA) enables the rapid formation of advanced polycycles. This strategy can be efficiently applied in total synthesis of natural compounds.
