Abstract

The co-occurrence of substance use problems and mental health problems, referred to as ‘comorbidity’, is a widespread issue of clinical importance. The presence of one problem can increase the likelihood of the other problem occurring. Additionally, individuals with cooccurring mental health and substance use problems may have poorer outcomes than those with one disorder only.
