Abstract
Produced by the Film, T.V. and Journalism Students, Curtin University of Technology -- Two films with a common theme. Part one: Island of Chains, deals with controversies surrounding Aboriginal burial sites on Rottnest Island and their significance to today's Aboriginal people. Until the early 1900's, Rottnest was used as a prison, and of the 3,000 Aboriginal prisoners sent there, 500 died. Their remains lie in unmarked graves beneath the holiday settlement but are now being recovered. Part two: Chains of Descent, details life in the convict era of Western Australia and the valuable role convicts played.
