Abstract

In 1969, the Minister of the Interior and the Northern Territory Reserves Board commissioned Harris, Kerr, Forster and Company to prepare a development plan for the Ayers Rock - Mt. Olga National Park, Northern Territory. Concern over the increased rate of visitors to the Park, in line with ad hoe provision of facilities to cater for tourist demand, prompted the need for an investigation into the social, environmental, and economic effects of tourism on the National Park environment . .
