Abstract

From their very first point of contact with the Victoria River District Europeans wrote with absolute certainty about the economic potential of the area. Large open black soil plain country covered with Mitchell and Flinders grasses; permanent water holes in the Dry and full fast-flowing creeks and rivers during the Wet; these natural features were observed and noted.
