Abstract

On reverse: BARCELONA AFTER FRANCO'S CAPTURE CH/CA. These photographs, just arrived in London by air, show scenes in Barcelona after Franco's capture of the city. After what is described as a bloodless victory the city returned gradually to normal life. Transport started again, people went to change Republican money into Franco money or made their way to one of the centres where food was being distributed. All around, however, there was ample evidence of recent bombings. Photo shows- Some of the hundreds of prisoners at the Chateau Montjuich, Barcelona, where all prisoners were immediately concentrated. Fox Feb 8th. 39
