This photograph was taken at the Bulong longhouse, 142. 19 E. 5. 49 S. Universal grid reference 54M XU454573 (1: 100 000 Karoma map sheet 7386). Photographer's note: The dancer sang as he moved around the room with slow springing steps. Each time he bent his knees, a rattle suspended on string clattered onto the floor. The tall head-dress and cape of young palm-leaf streamers emphasized his elegant movements in the light of resin and bamboo torches. The dance continued until dawn.
