Description
This bronze vessel is in the shape of a rhinoceros and is a most unusual example. According to Chinese texts it is said to have been found in 1843 in Shou-chang Shantung, and was thought to have been in the possession of ancestors of Confucius. It bears an inscription of 27 character which dates it in the reign period of the last Shang ruler. -- 36 x 21 cm.
