Abstract

Description

Throughout its history, Marwar painting preserved much of the turbulent and vital spirit of the pre-Muslim tradition. The painting shown here reflects the traditional Indian desire to reduce reality to visionary forms. The composition is compartmentalized, the colours are intense, and the figures are expressively stylized.
