The main body of this thesis is a translation with notes from the Hanjung nok, an autobiographical memoir which gives an account of Court life in the time of King Yǒngjo (r. 1725-1176) of the Yi dynasty, and a touching description of the tragic incidents involving her family by Lady Hong of the Hyegyǒng Palace (1725-1815).
