The aborigines of Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory, live a communal experience. Food gathering is shared by all able-bodied people. The men hunt game with spears, and fish in shallow water with four-pronged spears and in deeper water with hooks and lines and hand-nets, all made by themselves. The women gather vegetable foods, dig for bulbs and collect crabs and shellfish from the lagoons. This young lubra has gathered a pail of mussels.en_AU
