Abstract
Recorded at University House, 6 December 1978. -- Side 1: China's post-Mao political, economic and social developments and its growing external relations: problems replacing so powerful a leader; need for high technology, capital and knowledge to satisfy demands of populace, foreign governments and modernization. -- Side 2: Continuation of side 1. The effect in terms of opening up of the country will be great, but for the people of China, there will be more purges yet and some resentment at the rapicity of changes and demands of youth, and tensions between city and rural sectors -- Individual audience questions. -- Chairman: Professor Wang.
