Abstract

Description

It is situated before the main sanctuary and represents the divine vehicle. It is constructed like the wooden cars used to transport the deity during festivals. Its highly decorated stone wheels are sometimes carved independently of the axle and turn freely upon it, but normally it is a static monument which sometimes contains a sanctuary. This example was surmounted by a kind of vimana which collapsed at the end of the last century.
