Abstract
Description
This little sanctuary was probably erected after the Parasuramesvar. Its chief, and unique, characteristic is its sikhara which has a rectangular plan, terminating in [an] oblong vault which also seems to be of southern influence. However, the frontal projection in the form of a kudu has been retained. This derives directly from the northern type of temples at Pattadakal. The jagmohan is of the same type as that of the Parasuramesvar, with the addition here of little sikharas at the corners. There is also a very small temple scarcely 26' by 20' high. Its walls are not very decorated by comparison [to] those of the Parasuramesvara but they already show more unity in the arrangement of motifs and more skill in the greatment of the carving.
