Abstract
During a dry time in March 1933 the management of Corona decided to do away with 10,000 of the older dry ewes. Contractors were paid 3d per head to butcher and skin the sheep in the catching pens in the shearing shed. The skins were sold to Winton woolscour for 1/3p each. The tally reached 8,000 when the drought broke. During this period I was a jackaroo in charge of this operation (later bookkeeper and storekeeper).
