Abstract
Description
During the late eighteenth century and the first half of the nineteenth, Rajput patronage of the arts continued to flourish supported by the political stability derived from British rule. Rajput painters continued to diverge from Mughal naturalism and elegance. In this painting, the soft colour harmonies are Mughal, but the flat composition and hierarchy of scale belong to the indigenous tradition.
